Winter Night

This is a little art quilt that came about unintentionally. One day I was sick and slept all day. I tried to sleep that night but couldn't and so I decided to  make some fabric out of my small scraps. I had seen the technique done on a quilt show and it looked like something I might want to do. I sewed and I sewed for hours putting together each small scrap and adding it to others and cutting it and sewing again... I wound up with a piece about 17 inches square after about 6 hours of work.
I hung it up on my quilt board and looked at it for a day and it kept reminding me of a cold windy night so I added a tree and made wind in free motion and it became Winter Night. If you look close you can see how the moon is in a piece of fabric that just happened to be in the right place, and it is the only scrap like it in the whole quilt! Who says things don't happen by accident :)

Fall Applique Sampler

Don and I need another  car so badly and I am trying to help so I decided to make a quilt and sell it. I did my best to make sure my work was good and consistent and I hope this one finds a good home!

Quilts for Kids

Here is the kit I got from the Quilts for Kids organization. I finished the one they gave me and added one from my stash. To get the kit all I had to do was go to their website and send them a note. www.quiltsforkids.org
I enjoyed making them and asked for more :)

Hah!Can you see my mistake? I never noticed until I posted the picture!
Well, too late now. I guess it adds character....lol

In My Basket

In my quiting basket are a lot of projects I am trying to keep up with.
There are the two quilts I am doing for the " Quilts for Kids"project.
The queen basket sampler I am making to sell in my Etsy site.
And then, there is the block for the "Bloggers BOM" I am doing.
So I need to get sewing.....

Four Patch Ladder now has a home

I made the Four Patch Ladder quilt with my sister in law, Dawn in mind. But I didn't want to commit to it until it was complete and I knew that it was going to be right for her.
I think it came out good and I love the colors (which match my house as well). I free hand quilted in my favorite verse on the border, "Search me o'God and know my heart, try me and know my thoughts and see if there be any wicked way in me" from the book of Psalm.

I gave it to her on Sunday and she loves it! She sent me a picture of where she hung it the next day...

Quilt From Mom

Friday I received my beautiful quilt my mom made. I love it so much! She said that she was a little shaky from her medecine she is taking so she thought the stitching wasn't what she wanted, but you know... I looked and it is beautiful! My mom is the best quilter I know!

Some Applique and a Fons and Porter

Here are some quilts I did a few years ago.The sampler is from a booklet I got from Fons and Porter. I enjoyed it so much.
The applique tree and house quilt is taken from different pictures and some ideas from my own head :)

My Mom is the Best Quilter I Know

My mom, the quilter I aspire to the most, made Don and I a quilt for our 30th anniversary.
It is one of my most prized treasures.
My mom is the best quilter I know....

Quilts for Kids

I was watching Sewing With Nancy the other day and there was a segment on quilts for kids.
I have been wanting to donate quilts for kids and so I checked out their website and they send you the fabric and pattern and you send it back after it's made. I send off for my kit and plan to have a few additional quilts from my own stash to add to the package I send back.
What fun for a good cause!

Four Patch Ladder

I started a new quilt this week and put aside the last one for now.
I have so many people who would love a quilt and sometimes when I start one and get it on the design board it just doesn't suit them, so I put it aside and start new.
I believe this one is on the right track for who I have in mind. If I put their name down then I may have to change my mind again and that would mean editing my post :)
But I think this one is so pretty that I may have a hard time letting it go.
I love the pattern and plan on using this one again. It's a little tricky getting all the pieces set to form the design and while sewing it together. I have to stay focused, but I love it! I am trying to do more challenging things and improve with every quilt.

Saturday Shopping Day

Okay so it's Saturday and the day that I go out and try to spend the least amount of money and get most of what I need. I heard from my sister in law Lucinda that KMart is having double coupon days every Wed and Sat from now until April. So I'm going to check it out and work my way down main street until I make all my stops :)
The fabric store is right at the top of my list because I really need some large print fabric :) My fabric stash is getting a little boring lately. I have used so many of my fabrics in different quilts that I need some new direction. From now on unless I need it for a specific reason I am only buying in 1/2 yards and more fat quarters.

new quilt

I started a quilt and as usual it is evolving on it's own and totally different from what I had originally planned...

"Pink Chocolate"

So I finished Emily's quilt yesterday.
The verse on the border is from Colassians 3:20, "Chidren obey your parents in all things for this is pleasing unto the Lord."
I think it came out pretty good. She is coming over tomorrow so we'll see what she thinks :)
